Windsor County Youth Services (WCYS) has been helping youth and families since 1992 and provides a 24/7-crisis program to assist youth and families. One of our primary goals is to provide support when a teenager runs away, threatens to leave home or feels hopeless about family relationships. In addition to temporary shelter and food, our services include mediation, case management, individual, group, and family counseling, support services, and referrals. Whenever possible, families are reunited with a plan and support services in place.

Demonstrating what is possible when caring members of a small community organize to address the needs of its most vulnerable youth, WCYS operates two youth shelters: Mountainside and The House at 20-Mile Stream. WCYS also has an on-site Licensed Tutorial Program that enables residents to stay caught up with their schoolwork while they receive the support they need to reestablish safe, stable housing.

The Transitional Living Program offers a wide range of services to local youth age 16-21 who lack stable living alternatives, are homeless, or are at rise of becoming homeless. Program participants meet weekly with staff to increase their awareness and improve their skills in the areas of employment and career development, budgeting and money management, housing, pursuing educational goals, life skills, and building social supports.
